One of Idaho’s best kept secrets is out, Star has become one of the fastest growing town not only in Idaho but the United States. It is full of beautiful open spaces, new subdivisions, and equestrian properties that stand out in the Treasure Valley. This growing small town on the western edge of Ada County got it’s name from travelers on their way to Middleton, ID and Boise, ID who used the Star on the old school house to find east and west. One of the earliest settlers was Ben F. Swalley who in 1863 rested his ox team and wagon onto 300 acres of land along the Boise River. Today, Star has over 10,000 residents who call this town home. Even with the unprecedented growth Star has experienced, it retains a small town feel with much community involvement and activities. If you are looking for a laid back, peaceful lifestyle wrapped in beauty and hospitality this community is worth a look. With a good mix of undeveloped/developed lands, active agriculture, and rolling hills, Star has much to offer.
In 2020 Star became a second amendment sanctuary city with strong support from the community. The designation has gained traction with other communities in Idaho and across 20 different states.
Bottom line, Star lives much larger than it’s population, but beware frequent visits to this Idaho small town may lead to planting roots and never leaving. It has happened to many who have found their slice of Idaho paradise.
